AUSTRALiatry chief executive officer Dr. Mark Ojellan, a member of the National Pharmaceutical Council, told the Sunday Times: “We need to understand why there are so many people in the world who are looking for Viagra and there’s a lot of pressure on them to take it, but that’s not what’s going on in the country.”
The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia had asked that the country take the Viagra drug off the market in Australia.
The pharmaceutical industry was one of the largest in Australia. Last month, a government survey of drug manufacturers revealed that there were 11,000 men and women with erectile dysfunction who would be willing to take the drug, with the highest number of those men saying they could be offered the drug if they wanted it.
Dr. Ojellan said the number of men and women in the country was growing and it was also the number of men and women who were willing to pay the drug for a month to see if they could be given it.
“We don’t have enough doctors to do the research and we need the money to find the right men and women. There are so many men in Australia. We have to find the best men and women,” he said. “We need to understand why there are so many people in the world who are looking for Viagra and there’s a lot of pressure on them to take it, but that’s not what’s going on in the country.”
Ojellan added: “The main problem with the Australian population is that they are not getting any help. And as far as we know there is a lot of pressure on them to take the Viagra, but that’s not what’s going on.”
The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, the trade association that represents the drug companies, said that the drug companies were “very concerned” about the increasing demand for the drug and were looking for ways to reduce the problem.
A spokesman for the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia said: “We are in an era where we can make a huge impact on the pharmaceutical industry and we are committed to doing so.”
Ojellan said the government had asked for “no” response from the manufacturers to take the drug off the market because it was being sold in the United States and Australia and the United Kingdom for the first time in more than a decade.
He added that Australia was not the first place to take Viagra, as many of the drug companies had been involved in other countries to try to reduce their price and that there had been a “great increase” in demand.
Ojellan, of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia, said the country’s high drug prices had been rising over the past few years.
“We now have a very good reason to be concerned,” he said. “We have seen that we can help with a very small number of products.”
